Variables influencing on Anxiety of Operation Patients


Abstract
The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between state anxiety and anxiety to operation, the result of operation and anxiety, the size of operation and anxiety, the previous experiences of operation and anxiety, and the level of anxiety pre?operation and post?operation, to examine the anxiety to operation according to age, stages feeling anxiety for operation, physiological changes according to anxiety.
For our the purpose, this study used state?anxieey and trait-anxiety inventory of Spielberger.
The results obtained were as follows
1) Especially women had significantly higher anxiety in pre?operation rather thn post?operation
2) In the anxiety of pre?operation and post?operation the group under went major operation was higher significantly than it under went minor operation
3) The anxiety of patients being just before operation was the highest. That is On going to operating room, the anxiety was the highest.
4) State anxity was higher than trait anxiety in pre?operation.
5) The gruop with a previous experience to be operated was lower than if with no experoence in the anxiety of pre?operation, but there was no significant difference statistically.
6) The group satisfied with the result of operation was lower significantly than it dissatisfied with the result of operation in the anxiety of post?operation.
7) For the anxiety of pre--operation and post?operation, 40s?year old males and females were the highest, but there was no significance statistically. And 20s?30s year old males and females were low significantly in post?ope ratration rather than pre?operation.
8) The group with low anxiety in per?operation has shown low anxiety significantly in post?operation.
